Stay and play at The Oitavos, a 5-star luxury resort perfectly located to explore Lisbon’s Golf Coast, a region with more than 20 world-class golf courses.
Just 20 minutes from Lisbon and close to beautiful beaches, The Oitavos boasts a superb Arthur Hills-designed golf course, several high-quality restaurants, a spa, gym, multiple swimming pools and 142 rooms and suites with balconies providing ocean or golf course views.

The resort, also just 3km from the charming seaside resort town of Cascais, is set in the heart of Lisbon’s Golf Coast, west of Portugal’s capital on the Atlantic Coast. The golf courses here, some designed by the biggest names in course architecture, are all handily within a range of 40km of each other.
It’s a true golfing paradise in a part of Portugal known for its superb year-round climate, peaceful atmosphere and fantastic wine and gastronomy.

Oitavos Dunes, nestled in the heart of the resort within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, is one of the best golf courses in Portugal. Set among pine woods and sand dunes in an area of great natural beauty, it’s a seaside course with awesome sea and mountain views. This stunning natural links blends seamlessly with nature and the magnificent sand dunes right beside the Atlantic Ocean.
If you choose to stay at The Oitavos Hotel you can benefit from discounted green fees, exclusive offers and the resort’s Caddy Master which will transport you back and forth between the hotel and golf course. There’s also a superb Clubhouse with a bar and restaurant and a pro shop, a driving range and short game area.
The resort is also a gastronomic treat. Head chef Cyril Devilliers, who trained under three-Michelin-star chef Michel Guérard, oversees the food offering at the hotel’s restaurants. Ipsylon offers Euro-fusion fine dining, there’s casual alfresco dining at the clubhouse’s Verbasco, while The Terrace is a relaxed pool side restaurant.

The Spa has a Balneotherapy area, several secluded rooms, a host of organic and ocean-inspired treatments, Jacuzzi, saunas and a heated indoor swimming pool. The resort also has an Equestrian Centre, multiple swimming pools including an infinity pool and it’s just five minutes away from fantastic beaches, including the famous Guincho beach known for its immense surfing waves.
Less than 20km north is Penha Longa Golf Resort, another incredibly luxurious resort which is home to the excellent Penha Longa Atlantic Championship Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr. Host of the Portuguese Open three times in 1994, 1995 and 2010, the course weaves across sloping terrain with several holes offering incredible views of the ocean, the towns of Estoril and Cascais and over the mountains.

About 10km west of The Oitavos is the beautiful Palacio Estoril Golf, a Mackenzie Ross-designed championship course which has hosted the Portuguese Open. It’s a stunning course set amongst eucalyptus, mimosas and pine trees giving it a uniquely colourful appearance. It’s not too long and it’s one of Portugal’s oldest and most emblematic golf courses.

Only 1km from The Oitavos is Quinta da Marinha Golf Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. The views here of the Sintra mountain range from the elevated tees and greens are stunning and frame most of the holes. The 3rd hole is definitely its signature, a par-4 with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s one of the most beautiful holes in all of Portugal.

Around 15km northwest of The Oitavos is Pestana Beloura Golf, a gorgeous parkland layout between the towns of Cascais and Sintra. One of the newest courses in the region, there’s lovely views of the Sintra mountain range and over 40,000 oak, pine, palm, cedar and magnolia tress along with several lakes.

Other world-class courses in this region within a 30-minute drive of The Oitavos include Belas Clube de Campo, a championship course designed by Rocky Roquemore set in the beauty of the Carregueira Mountains with fairways and greens set in deep valleys and across hills. The scenery here is unforgettable.

Also not to be missed is Aroeira Golf Club, just 25km from the centre of Lisbon. The club has two excellent courses, Aroeira Pines Classic which hosted the Portuguese Open in 1996 and 1997, and Aroeira Challenge which opened in 2000 designed by Donald Steel. Pines Classic is a woodland course which meanders through thick pine forest, while Aroeira Challenge is more of a parkland layout with greens built around five lakes. Together they are a beautiful place to play golf, in this wonderful part of the world for golfers.
