Set in a glacial valley in the Southern Alps on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, The Hills offers guests a secluded luxury experience at a stunning lodge and an exceptional 18-hole championship golf course.
The Hills is just 20 minutes from the international airport at Queenstown, New Zealand‘s breathtakingly beautiful tourist town where people from around the world travel to for its bucket-list outdoor activities.
Widely considered to be New Zealand‘s most exclusive golf club, The Hills is for private members but guests staying at The Lodge all have the opportunity to play. Opened in 2007 and designed by Darby Partners, the club has co-hosted the New Zealand Open on the PGA Tour of Australasia since 2014 along with nearby Millbrook Resort.
Laid across a former deer farm, this exceptionally conditioned course winds through ponds, lakes and waterways and reflects the dramatic elevation changes and rocky outcrops that are a feature of the area. It provides a serious challenge for skilled players, but it’s equally enjoyable for golfers of all abilities. It’s a fantastic course which builds to an awesome closing stretch of holes.

There is also a private par 3 course named ‘The Farm’ adjacent to The Lodge for the exclusive use of lodge guests. When it opened in 2019, it became a standout in New Zealand and among the best short courses in the world. It features nine bunker-less holes routed around an irrigation channel, and several tees are elevated requiring carries over water. Both courses here are blessed with beautiful scenery.

Lodge at The Hills is an ‘exclusive use’ hosted lodge, offering a bespoke experience for up to 12 guests. Blending beautifully with its environment, The Lodge has extensive living areas, six large suites, art studio, music and media room, wine cellar and a large, open plan kitchen and dining area. The panoramic mountain views are spectacular.
Each of the six bedroom suites are individual in their luxurious design and furnishings and have their own sitting area with gas fire and en-suite bathroom. Its gorgeous private grounds feature a heated infinity pool, sauna, grass tennis court, fire pit and several outside seating and dining areas.

The Lodge’s private chef is an integral part of the experience. The food is innovative, locally sourced, and tailored to meet guests’ individual requirements. Guests are invited to spend time with the chef in the kitchen and can participate in a masterclass. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and canapés are included in the price.
Guests can have lunch prepared as a picnic, or dinner left for them to assemble and serve. A complimentary selection of wine and beverages are provided or guests may choose to purchase from the curated ‘Hills’ Cellar Selection Menu’.

Lodge at The Hills is ideally positioned to take advantage of the amazing activities the region has to offer. The Lodge concierge is available to arrange bespoke experiences. Activities include: glacier and mountain walks and landings, skiing, fishing, scenic flights, jet boating, bungee jumping… to name but a few. You can also turn your stay into a yoga and health retreat experience with expert instructors.
