Thomas Detry: What’s In The Bag?

Belgian star Thomas Detry is due to make his major championship debut at the US Open after impressing on the European Tour. Let’s take a look at the equipment he will take to Winged Foot in New York.

The 27-year-old has recorded 2^nd place finishes on Tour in the last month and is a Callaway staffer.

Driver

Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero (10.5 degrees)
Shaft: Mitsubishi Tensei 60x

Detry is averaging 314 yards off the tee this season with his Mavrik Sub Zero Driver.

This driver from Callaway is a low spinning driver with high MOI which offers two interchangeable weights to fine-tune trajectory.

3-Wood

Shaft: Mitsubishi Kuro Kage

Callaway’s fastest fairway wood is built for confidence with a large and expansive hitting area. Featuring a single fixed weight in the sole to pull the CG low and back in the head for high launch and flat trajectory.

Detry also uses a Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero 5-wood and a hybrid depending on course and conditions. He has been known to use a Callaway Epic Hybrid and a Callaway Apex 19 Hybrid.

Irons

Callaway’s Apex Muscleback Irons are true musclebacks inspired by the Tour and suited for the best of the best players.

Detry is faring better this season with his irons and is currently ranked 15^th on the European Tour in greens in regulation.

Putter

Odyssey O-Works Black #7

The O-Works #7 Putter is a modified mallet weight weighted alignment wings, a double-bend shaft, high contrast Versa alignment, Microhinge Face Insert, sole weighting, full-shaft offset, and a Superstroke grip.

Detry will need to find some form with the putter at Winged Foot, as he currently ranks 45^th on the European Tour in putts per round.

Ball

Callaway says the Chrome Soft delivers maximum distance for the elite player.
