Set in the shadows of South Africa‘s Waterberg Mountains next to a Big 5 game reserve, the five-star Zebula Golf Estate boasts luxurious accommodation, incredible nature activities, and an excellent golf course.
The 660-hectare estate includes wildlife enclosures for safe safari encounters and lies next to the Zebula Game Reserve, should you want to see the incredible local wildlife in its natural habitat. The resort, in the malaria-free Limpopo Province, is just a two hours’ drive north of Johannesburg international airport.
The Zebula Golf Course is set in a basin of pristine bushveld, a sub-tropical woodland area of Southern Africa. Designed by respected Zimbabwean architect Peter Matkovich, it caters for all skill levels with four tees on each hole. Built to USGA specifications, the layout follows the natural contours of the largely flat terrain and progresses around the residential complex.
The fairways are wide and framed by bushveld trees and there’s lots of water and smart bunkering. The signature 8th is a short par 3 with an elevated green protected by sand and water. The course is home to a variety of indigenous, non-predator, free-roaming game species. You won’t be disappointed!
There’s a large practice putting green and chipping area and the Pro Shop, one of the best stocked in the country, offers top brands for all your golfing equipment, clothes and accessories. There’s lessons and clinics with PGA professionals on offer, too.
The resort has many accommodation options catering to singles, couples, families, and groups. There are luxurious five-star lodges and 2-8 bedroom stunning homes to rent. Each stay is professionally tailored to each individual need. Zebula also has access to a pool of privately owned houses that can be rented per night. These houses vary in size, price and features, and with 49 of these to choose from, you are sure to find one that suits your needs.
The resort’s incredible list of activities offers endless opportunities for fun for all members of the family. As well as squash and tennis courts and a gym, there’s fishing, archery, paint-ball and clay target shooting.
But it’s the wildlife that sets this resort apart. There’s bush walks and Big 5 Game drives, quad and horseback safaris, and you can visit the Snake and Reptile Park for free, watch the Cheetah Run, and experience the incredible ‘Adventures with Elephants’, an extraordinary hands-on opportunity to meet the local elephants.
The luxurious and relaxing Spa at Zebula offers a wide range of treatments and therapies with six private and four couples treatment rooms. These are complemented by a raised deck overlooking the bush where open-air manicure and pedicure treatments are highly recommended. There’s an indoor heated pool and two outdoor jacuzzis which are set in a tranquil garden. Next to the Spa is the resort’s main swimming pool with loungers, umbrellas and a full-service snack bar.
The resort’s Syringa Restaurant, The Terrace Restaurant and Dirk’s Place ensure that every palette is catered for generously. Syringa is the main dinner restaurant, The Terrace is a light and airy restaurant and the perfect setting to enjoy a hearty breakfast or light lunch, while Dirk’s Place has a friendly atmosphere and serves hearty food and drink, with sport and live music every weekend.
